When buying or selling a house, one of the first questions that come to mind is either “What do I want in a house?” or “What do buyers want in my house?” Though it can be hard to differentiate between wants and needs in real estate, the answer to either question may have a surprising link to generational real estate trends.
According to data on home buyer and seller generational trends released by theNational Association of Realtors, Millennials (those born between 1982 and 2000) continue to comprise the largest contingent of homebuyers, holding 35 percent of the market. Although Millennials are the largest contingent of homebuyers, they spend less time saving for a down payment and have the largest level of edu...
Spring tends to be the peak season for home-buying here at Lake Gaston, however, fall may be the best time to buy. Right after the summer season, there is a lot of inventory from which to make your choice. The weather is mild for house-hunting, and it's quiet and peaceful. The leaves will be changing to beautiful colors around the water and that makes for a wonderful view. Also, it gives you time for getting your house ready to enjoy in the summer.
There are several things to check when looking at properties in the fall. These things are not be so obvious once the weather changes and cools down.
1. Check the air conditioning status: Most likely the air conditioner will not be running in the fall, so have an inspector check it out and make sure that it is functioning properly. You need to check the filter, check for any blockages, and check the outdoor condenser and make sure there are no strange nois...
Our "to-do" list always seems to grow. Now that Summer is gone and Fall is kicking into high gear, there are a few things you may want to add to that list while you are working on it. To spruce up you home and make if feel more like the beautiful fall season, here are some things you can do.
1. Clear out closets- As you pull out the sweaters and jeans this fall, make a point to weed out the clothing that doesn't fit any more or that is no longer in style. Donate them to your local church or a Goodwill center.
2. Brighten up your kitchen- we spend a lot of time in the kitchen in the fall and winter months. We cook holiday meals, gather with family there, and pour over homework at the kitchen counter. You can change your kitchen towels, add a pretty arrangement or table centerpiece, or invest in new placemats.
3. Inspect and repair your roof- Now is the time, before ice and snow arri...

I love to cook, and when I cook, I need plenty of room and the right pots and pans, and all the other tools necessary to prepare what I am planning. I also need a great space in which to work. A great space gives you a good feeling and lets your creative juices flow. It can inspire you to create wonderful meals and try new recipes. If your kitchen feels "old" or drab, give it a new Lake Gaston feel. If you are considering selling your home, a nice kitchen is also a huge selling point.
Refresh dark or wood cabinets with a coat of paint. White cabinets are fresh and clean looking, and can give your kitchen a lift. It can change the whole feel of your kitchen. You can even take it a step further and change the hardware.
It always helps a space to brighten it up with light. You may want to add under-counter lights to those dark, hard-to-reach corners. If ceiling height allows it, you can bring lights down from the ceilin...
Selling your home can be a very emotional and hectic time. Your Realtor can help you with many of the details during this time, and make the experience much easier and less stressful
As a Realtor, I will advise the seller on pricing by checking comparable listing that had been sold in the area. I can give tips and suggestions for getting your property ready to list. One of the main things that I like to remind clients is the importance of staging the home for showing and the pictures that are taken for the listing. You want to attract a buyer with open, clean, neutral spaces so they can envision their own possession there. A general rule of thumb is to remove personal pictures and as many sentimental knick-knacks as possible. As a Real Estate Professional, I can provide you with an unbiased and experienced opinion of your home and any changes that will make it more attractive to potential buyers. My goal is to do a good job by selling your home as quickly and as financially favorable...
Living at Lake Gaston for over 20 years, I have seen a lot of changes take place. One that comes to mind is the increase in the number of small businesses. Some of these include, heating and air, plumbing, contractors, and lawn care. I have been fortunate to see many of these businesses grow as the demand has increased. At some point after you purchase a property here at Lake Gaston or in the area, you will need some of these businesses. Remember these small local people that take pride in their work when you need repairs, home improvements, or lawn care.
While sitting on my desk here at Lake Gaston, I began to think about this summer. These last few months have gone by so fast. It seems like summer should be starting and it is nearly over. I can say for myself and my family, it has been a good one. Earlier in the summer, we went on a vacation and cruised to the western Caribbean. We had so much fun just being together. When it was over however, it was good to get back to work. I really do enjoy my job and meeting new people. One of the best thing about being a realtor is talking to people and getting to know about them and what they are looking for in a home on Lake Gaston or the surrounding area. Getting to know them and about where they are from is a learning experience for me and I really enjoy it. I believe the more I learn from my clients, the better I will become at my job, which is finding the perfect home for anyone coming to the area.
